Magpies… one of my favorite birds, at the very top. Magpies the most elegant of the Corvid family. Working on a new project illustrating the counting “crows” nursery rhyme.

What a perfect depiction of loss. Loss hollows us out. The fresh carve deep and clear while old losses fade, leaving ghostly imprints that never quite disappear.

I will take more magpie shots. I have a family here at the moment and I follow them all day when I am home, you are welcome to use them for reference. They are becoming quite tame, in a wild bird way.
